Be ready for the future of the Internet - Web animations

In today’s market, if you own a business, it is absolutely mandatory to have a website for it. Hundreds of millions of people surf the internet every day, meaning countless potential customers. Today, showcasing your business on the internet is an easier job than it used to be, due to the fact that there are many companies which specialize in web design.

For a long period of time, web design was simplistic. Websites had a limited number of pages that were linked together and that provided visitors with content. With the advancement of technology, especially within the website development industry, web designers moved to more complex designs for their projects. Today, the possibilities are virtually limitless. The internet is currently experiencing the transition from Web 2.0 to Web 3.0. In an attempt to further improve the quality of the web content that is delivered to users.

One aspect of website designs that business owners tend to overlook is represented by animations. The problem with animations is that most people believe them to be purely decorative additions to a website. While it may have been true in the past, this is no longer the case. Today, designers are able to create animations that are more than just decorative.

Instead of looking at animations as a decorative addition, it’s time to view them as an important asset for websites. The human brain is wired to recognize movement - however small, through reflexes. That’s why we find ourselves noticing different moving objects, even when we’re focused on something else. Combining the power of animations with our natural reflexes for moving objects reveals an important set of benefits:

  • The website becomes interactive, changing the overall perception of the user, thus improving the browsing experience;

  • Augments the character and the personality of the website, making it easier for users to understand the various, offered functionalities;

  • Providing instant visual feedback for events that happened or will happen;

  • Enhances the connection between the user and the content delivered by your website, increasing the revisiting and conversion rates.

However, the use of animations doesn’t stop here. In the past years, the number of users who access the web through mobile devices has surpassed that of the users who use desktops for this task. This is especially important for web designers and business owners due to the fact that mobile devices have smaller screens. Using animations with the correct amount of attention to details can create a seamless surfing experience on both desktops and mobile devices.

Slowly but surely, web animations will become a larger part of the web design market. What was initially used as pure eye-candy, can now be used not only to make a website more immersive, but also to improve the overall surfing experience of the users. Using the right animations in order to improve your website’s content delivery can easily convince visitors to return, and if it’s the case, increase your website’s conversion rates. If you haven’t contracted an animator for your website, now is a good time to do it.
